Spiritium (Work in progress!!!!!!!!!!!!)

 

Spiritium is the power source of A3W extracted from the planet, it is what fuels the gauntlet. Spiritium is not energy itself but must converted into energy using a dreiisig conversion. It is the subject of the conflict between the four factions who want to control regions rich in spiritium. Only LATO has rare spiritium.


Spiritium is the newest energy source humanity discovered after coal and the atom.

But we dont know what spiritium actually is or how it is produced.  

Examining what the story says about it might give us clues to what it is.

1.The smell of Spiritium

Spiritium has a strong odor which is usually covered up by the atmospheric cleansing 8ms, but when the worldwide 8ms crash happens everyone notices the strong ammonia smell that spiritium gives off.

Gunhild and Aysha who lived in poverty in cities that didnt have the air purification 8ms are used to the smell. Aysha compares the smell to that of urine, which has it's smell because of it's ammonia content

So we have multiple references to spiritium steam smelling like ammonia. 

Weirdly there's a whole data fragment focused on things that smell like ammonia (6/16) Stinky food showdown.

2.Stinky food showdown

In this data fragment the gauntlet knights of Warcat and Grave mole compete in who's national cuisine has the most smelliest food,

First Gunhild and Lilja feed Salmiak Liquorice to Miyao and Jayden, which has its specific taste because of ammonium.

Then Miyao brings up natto and kusaya, natto being fermented soybeans and kusaya, fish fermented in brine, both of these foods have an intense ammonia smell.




Gunhild retaliates with surströmming which is a fermented baltic sea herring and is regarded as the smelliest food in the world. Its smell is described as smelling intensely of ammonia, rotten eggs and decaying matter.

Then at the very end Chloe brings up a traditional inuit food, kiviak, which is made by stuffing many small birds into a seal skin and fermenting them inside, its smell is that of rotting meat and ammonia.

You probably already noticed what all of these foods have in common, all of them except salmiak are fermented foods and all of them have an intense ammonia smell.



So why does Spiritium, a futuristic energy source have the same smell as fermented food?.

Ammonia is created by a chemical process through breakdown of organic matter.

Ammonia in nature is a byproduct of decay and decomposition of organic matter by bacteria. Rotting. Fermentation is controlled rotting.

Therefore Spiritium has the same smell as decaying organic matter. Its made by decomposing something?

3.Spirit Fields.

What is it thats being decomposed to produce spiritium? 

The story tells us that spiritium fields are most commonly found across border regions, disputed territories and places where many people died during WW3. It is extracted from the earth in those places with mining drills.

The name for spiritium in Japanese is 霊素 is composed of these kanji

霊: meaning spirit or ghost, 

素: means element. appears with chemical elements for example 水素 (hydrogen, lit. water element)

So you could call it a spiritual element.

A spiritual element extracted from places where many people died, mass graves. 

Spitium smells like something rotting.

The energy source of A3W are people, the victims of WW3 who were fermented by the 8ms, and buried underground.

During the scene at midnight Mario says that the 8ms has taken away the planet's dignity by not allowing it to rot, almost as if the 8ms has fermented the entire earth.The entire earth has become fermented and the factions are extracting spiritual elements.

The planet had truly died but the 8ms wont let it rot and disappear, it has been conserved by it. or you could say mummified.

"Spiritium is the power source of this new era, extracted from the planet."

Ancient egyptians mummified corpses because they believed that the mummified body was the house of the spirit, if the body was destroyed the spirit would be also.

If the 8ms can ferment an entire planet, it can also ferment human bodies as well.

"[6] And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them."

The smell of ammonia that spiritium steam carries is the smell of the people killed in ww3 who were buried underground and fermented by the 8ms.

4.Spiritual Energy

The biggest mystery of Ciconia is WW3. No one knows why it happened, who fought in it, or how did billions of people die. The deaths of all those people and the planet's death are a mystery, in that way you could say ciconia is a murder mystery of entire planet. 

This knowledge has been hidden from people supposedly not to incite new wars. But what if hiding the truth of WW3 was tied to production of spiritium.

In wtc there must always be a big mystery as the focal point.

In Higurashi the mystery was The curse of oyashiro sama

in Umineko the mystery was what happened to the ushiromiya family.

and in Ciconia it's what happened in WW3. 

Mystery is the lifeblood of wtc, as a mystery game.

The truth of WW3 has been put in the catbox by whomever wanted to hide it.

Similarly Ushiromiya Eva has put the truth of rokkenjima inside of the catbox to keep ange from being crushed by it

The problem is that eventually people will create their own stories of what happened and when those stories contradict each other it will lead to war, conflicts over spiritium.

Spiritium is mystery and the biggest source of it in A3W is the biggest mystery : WW3

By extracting spiritium and using it as energy each faction is taking the past and shaping it into whatever.fuels their historical narrative.

The dead are used as fuel for new wars.

But why is it nesscessarry to keep the victims of WW3 fermented underground, as i said the body keeps the spiritium , spiritium is mystery and

5.Spiritium Manufacturing

In addition to extracting spiritium from the earth, the factions also create spiritium, there are spiritium research corporations, spiritium power plants and conversion facilities. 

Spiritium is mystery, energy extracted from the catbox.

So in order to create spiritium the factions must create mysteries like the game masters, (for the detectives to try and solve), must create catboxes.


But how do you create a catbox? There are 2 ways shown to use in phase 1, hidden in Wisdom.

Wisdom 19080630

The Date of the Wisdom 1908.06.30 is the day the Tunguska Incident happened which was a huge explosion. Where else has there been a huge explosion in When they cry?

The rokkenjima explosion incident. A massive explosion erases all evidence, shutting the truth inside the catbox.

And in ciconia there has been a huge explosion which killed the provisional directors at the IPMA conference. The Gauntlet knights try hard to uncover this mystery.

Wisdom 18721205

A golden triakis icosahedron, which causes someone to disappear without a trace.

The date is a reference to the disappearence of the crew of mary celeste which all disappeared without a trace.

This is the Onikakukshi, Demoning away, a missing person is in a superposition of being alive and dead, like a cat in the box.

The fate of Gunhild's sister Maja and the other girls in Geroy Research Center is a mystery. All the girls fail the pandora replication experiment are thrown into a dark pit and their cases are officially resolved as a missing person. Those girls were thrown into the bottomless pit to be fermented along with others.

6.Converting spiritium into energy.

The game tells us that spiritium itself is not energy, it must be converted into energy by a gauntlet knight who can use the dreissig conversion.

This line reveals something very significant

Gauntlet knights must convert spiritium into energy for it to be usable. The factions rely on them to make energy. This is the true purpose of a gauntlet knight, them being like comic book heroes is a fantasy layer, propaganda in order to find children who can perform the dreissig conversion. To be then turned into human batteries to fuel the will of their nations.

 Spiritium is Mystery and the gauntlet knights are detectives who have to find an answer.

The dreissig conversion is creating theories using your gauntlet to find your own answers to mysteries.

Taking facts of what happened and using your imagination to create alternative realities inside of your dimension container.

All of the mysteries presented are created by the game masters to show to them, and by thinking they are fulfilling their role as a game piece.

You are a piece by trying to solve the mystery.

7.Rare spiritium

Is obtained through the act of klilling, opening the catbox and exposing the truth 

while regular spiritium is a mystery without an answer, rare spiritium is mystery from which a single truth can be extracted. As opposed to people who were blown up in the glass sea whose life or death status cannot be confirmed.

In the factory scene all of humanity has its catbox opened by confirming death with 100% certainty, perfect corpse examination: No human can survive after having their head cut off from their body!

But to truly open a catbox you need someone to observe the moment of death. LATO is the supplier of Rare spiritium as the only faction that has it, and it has two observers : Valentina and Maricarmen, who decide the single truth.

This is why the gauntlet knight are forced to kill each other, to make rare spiritium there must be only one truth left in the catbox.

The goal is to make people accept contradictory truths existing together.
