Comparing the scene of Cyril's and Mario's deaths I noticed that the two have a lot of strange similarities, almost as if they were written to mirror each other perfectly. 

The superficial similarities aside, those being:

• Apocalypsis Ciconia I playing in both scenes
• Neither Mario or Cyril have sprites
• Same Blood splatter and sound effect

To what actually happens in the scene, Mario first:

1. Mario tries to commit suicide by pressing a Gun to his right temple
2. He is stopped by the gauntlet girls 
3. He uses Wisdom 18721205 to disappear, which emits a high frequency causing ear pain
4. He becomes black soot

Then Cyril

1. Feeling a sharp pain in his right ear
2. The right side of his head explodes
3. A missile strike targets the penthouse
4. The corpse is blown up

So the similarities between the two scenes are the following:

• Cyril feels a pain in his ear, just like Mario after using wisdom 18721205
• Mario puts a handgun up to his right temple and then the right side of Cyril's head blows up (Why would the writer specify it was the right side)
• Mario is turned into pitch black soot just like Cyril's corpse would be after being blown up with a missile.

Mario tries to 'restore his dignity', by committing suicide however the blue gauntlet girls don't let him do that since they're job is to keep him there, then he uses Wisdom to erase himself, The girls cannot shoot at wisdom. 

The Mario scene could as well be a fantasy scene since it takes place in a completely closed off system, in other words none of the observers inside the lab can interact with the outside world.

However in Cyril's case Rethabile is the only witness and she relays the story of what happened to Miyao, but since she is the only observer it's possible that she was lying about what took place.

In the first place, the premise of the scene makes little sense:

Rethabile goes to meet her brother who has prepared a written accusation against a secret organization, on a piece of paper inside the penthouse he was going to meet with her in. Then her brother is killed by a bomb hidden inside his skull, then the penthouse is bombed destroying the crucial evidence

The problems are, Cyril not making any backup of the note and storing it on a piece of paper that he had with him while meeting Rethabile -- There is only one copy of this crucial document and he has it on him while it was established by Rethabile that he is paranoid because he fears assassination.

And him being assassinated as soon as Rethabile came to see him as if the killers were waiting for her to witness this moment. Doing so by exploding him from inside, a method which a gauntlet knight cannot save him from.

It's so convenient it's like a Hollywood action movie.

Rethabile had made up the whole story to hide what truly happened, so this is my theory of what happened reading the scene symbolically.

Wisdom 18721205 has the power to make things disappear, it turns things to smoke and erases them, it's also named after the date of the disappearance of the crew of Mary celeste, Disappearing a corpse

Before Rethabile got to the penthouse Cyril had committed suicide by shooting himself in the right side of the head just like Mario tried to, which was changed to 'something exploding from within his ear' then Rethabile tried to hide the fact by calling a missile strike to the penthouse to destroy her brothers body by turning it to ash. Her using the rejection shield is a metaphor for her 'rejecting' the information that her brother killed herself and constructing a new reality.


As with every single scene in ciconia there are four answers to it:

Fantasy: The scene is exactly what it is presented as, the three kings exist and they killed cyril while Rethabile came to visit

Anti-Fantasy: The explanation above, Supernatural agencies like the three kings don't exist and everything can be explained with regular human actions, metaphors.

Mystery: There is a single culprit who is the murderer and clues have been laid out to find them
